Author: T2K

Alex and Mel are very good friends who met in high school and who have been strengthening their friendship ever since; through a mutual love of British comedies, costume dramas, great books and all things food. This blog is their first project together and seemed a natural extension of their mutual food and baking obsession hobby. It is also a way to maintain a friendship based largely on food discussions over 20 years of friendship. They hope, one day, to grow this blog into a domination of the food scene in Australia. In the meantime, while sharing all they learn with readers who stop by, domination of their kitchens will do.

Chocolate Ripple Cheesecake

Christmas always includes two desserts: cheesecake and chocolate ripple. I have been fascinated by this Chocolate Ripple Cheesecake recipe by Mary Berry for it’s combination of two favourite recipes. I decided to use a BBQ with some work colleagues to finally try the recipe. This cake is decadent but delicious. A small piece goes a long way! I’m always […]

Chocolate Sponge

One of the wonderful things about writing a blog about cooking, is people sharing their recipes with you. I love nothing more than collecting recipes people love and want to share. I have a book of recipes which friends, co-workers and acquaintances have passed on. Each proclaiming these recipes are easy and provide flawless results. It […]

Blueberry Pie

When I think of pie, I think of America. A few years ago I read ‘American Pie: Slices of Life (and Pie) from America’s Back Roads.’ The book chronicles the authors journey for the perfect pie. While I don’t have the luxury of travelling across America, I think this pie is pretty delicious. The  pastry is […]

Healthy (low-calorie) Banana Bread

Sometimes life gets in the way of a good thing – even something as beloved as this little blog! Between holidays, illness and overtime, I have sadly neglected my baking. Luckily Mel has come to my rescue and provided plenty of lovely recipes to keep me going in the meantime. This is the first cake […]

Wimbledon Cake

Hello, faithful reader! Sunday was the conclusion of the Australian Open, and the end of my summer of tennis. With trips to Perth and Sydney, and 12 hour days, I can finally breath a sigh of relief, and more importantly get back into the kitchen! The last month has been a diet of sandwiches, toast, […]

Chickpea and Pasta Soup

This was a dish my (Greek) Grandmother used to make for me and I always adored it. While I never got the recipe from her, this one in How to Eat caught my eye and I tried it out for the first time 5 years ago. While I expected a delicious soup (it is from […]

Vietnamese Salad

This is a salad I like to make for my lunch at work occasionally or to go alongside some spiced fish or marinated BBQ meats. In the picture above, I have stirred a tin of tuna through for a simple summer lunch. Very simple to make and yet so flavoursome, I really love that this […]

What to do with leftover Christmas ham?

Image source: Lifestyle Food This is not a regular post. But then Boxing Day is not a regular day. It’s the day after Christmas where (in Australia), depending on your idea of entertainment, you are likely to be either watching the cricket, attending the sales, lazing on the beach or watching old movies on the […]

Pasta Alfredo

This is my 15 minute pasta dinner on a rushed weeknight, or anytime I need a meal with minimal effort. I usually have everything required in my freezer, fridge and pantry so it’s also a good standby meal. The flavours are simple but satisfying and similar to a carbonara but much, much healthier! On a […]

Gingerbread Hedgehog

While I would never say a person could have too much gingerbread in the house, I would offer this recipe as a seasonal variation of an old favourite, and a way to gift gingerbread a little differently (and more decadently). Most Australians would be familiar with chocolate hedgehog or hedgehog slice from childhood birthday parties […]
