Doughnuts in New York City

This January, I was lucky enough to travel to New York City with Mr t2k. New York City is, of course, one of the food capitals of the world, offering thousands of options and so many unique food experiences.

Neither Mr t2k or I had been to the USA before, so we also wanted to try some of the typically American foods that aren’t so easy to find in Australia. While doughnuts don’t fall into this category, Dough was recommended to me both online and by friends who had already been, so it was on my (very long!) list of places to visit.

I chose the Dulche De Leche with almonds, and you can see Mr t2k’s  doughnut in the background; Salted Chocolate Caramel.

I loved my doughnut! Achingly sweet icing dripping over beautifully fluffy dough, topped with crunchy almonds – it was a total delight. Mr t2k was very happy with his choice too but, for me, it wasn’t intensely chocolaty enough.

If you’re not such a sweet tooth, I’d recommend the Salted Chocolate Caramel doughnut. For sugar fiends; the Dulche De Leche. Or you could branch out and make a selection from their long list of amazing flavours; Passionfruit, Hibiscus, Cafe au Lait, Nutella, Lemon-Ginger, Cheesecake, and Pumpkin just to name a few!

These were easily the best doughnuts I’ve ever eaten (though I keep meaning to visit Doughboys in Melbourne so that may change). My only regret is that I only had room for 1 doughnut; they were generously sized!

If you’re lucky enough to be in NYC and find yourself after a yummy snack, I would definitely recommend Dough. We visited them at their stall in Urbanspace Vanderbuilt (a mini indoor food hall at 230 Park Ave) where we sat in the window, watching passing traffic down below in the afternoon sun.
